Hong Kong Apartment

In Situ & Partners blend contemporary design and luxury finishes for a serene family home

A family home in Hong Kong that exudes a blend of warm minimalism and unpretentious elegance. The apartment’s serene interior palette, composed of hushed neutral tones, sets a tranquil stage for the breathtaking city views to take center stage.

Every detail within the 1,800-square-foot apartment has been thoughtfully curated, with a selection of modern design pieces that complement the overall aesthetic. The meticulous execution of high-quality materials and luxury finishes instills a sense of harmonious symmetry throughout the space, offering both a refined and comfortable living experience.

The home’s core features are defined by a blend of white oak wood paneling and cabinetry paired with richly veined marble. In the living room, the wood paneling extends upward, seamlessly transitioning into lacquered white panels on the upper wall. This vertical juxtaposition is harmonized by detailed linework, creating a rhythmic interplay of textures that elevates the space.

On the opposite wall, a horizontal slab of Argentinian Patagonia marble frames a flat-screen TV, serving as an elegant focal point. This luxurious marble continues its narrative below, where it forms the façade of a custom cabinet that appears to float effortlessly, adding to the room’s airy yet grounded ambiance.

The transition into the kitchen exemplifies a smooth continuity of materials, with custom oak cabinetry and a dedicated dining area featuring a bespoke marble table complemented by high-back stools from Cassina.

In the hallway, floor-to-ceiling custom wood closets provide a partition between the living and kitchen areas, ensuring a cohesive flow throughout the home. In the corner study room, sprawling city views unfold through a wall of scenic windows. The restrained elegance of a simple built-in desk and chair allows the views to become the focal point of the room.

The passage from the master bedroom to the bathroom is marked by a walk-in closet, showcasing a textured glass wall with a metal frame pivot door and backlit cabinets. The wood wall panel with vertically engraved lines behind the bed creates a graceful backdrop for the curving headboard upholstered in fabric and leather, which also encases custom wood nightstands. The room is bathed in a seductive glow from a suspended ceiling with peripheral lights flowing through subtle side gaps.

In the master bathroom, large slabs of Italian travertine marble create a uniform and luxurious effect across the walls, floors, and trough sink. The freestanding bathtub anchors the space, while Vola fixtures in a bronze finish lend a touch of subtle luster. The shower glass with an opaque bottom gradually shifts to full transparency at the top, adding a hint of playful sophistication.

Contemporary furnishings with structural details add an artful element to the décor, seamlessly integrating function and aesthetic appeal. Mood-enhancing lights by Japanese designer Koichi Tanaka of Lightlinks elevate the welcoming atmosphere, offering five distinct ambiance settings.

This family home stands as a serene sanctuary amidst the vibrant energy of Hong Kong, epitomizing the In Situ & Partners dedication to understated sophistication and timeless design.
